In November 2017, the American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology (ACC) released a new clinical practice guideline on hypertension. In December 2017, following the news, the American Dental Association (ADA) News reported the updates.
The guidelines, in a nutshell, state that normal blood pressure is under 120/80 mm Hg, whereas previously, normal was under 140/90 mm Hg. The categories of prehypertension, hypertension stage 1, and hypertension stage 2 have also changed.
This is an extremely important update for all students and dental professionals that is why I have put together a FREE guide explaining the new guidelines and what the changes mean to the dental professional.
BONUS! FREE practice questions to help you better understand the new guidelines and prepare for the examination.
